In Social, we already talked about the fur trade and barter that was happening as Canada was forming and we tied up this morning’s lesson to today’s medium of exchange namely, paper dollar.
I was able to get my hands on some props from a teacher convention and so the kids were very happy to get a sample. You can see Dawson et Jordan on today’s picture displaying their cheat sheet holograms. Now, kids can hopefully be able to spot Canadian counterfeit dollars and explain you the difference between money and currency. We watched a short video from the Hidden Secrets of Money which I highly recommend whether you are a grown up or not. We tend to forget what we use everyday as a medium of exchange and what it implies. You can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyV0OfU3-FU
The sun felt so nice today, it it should even get better and better as the week goes on. We did some quick kickball/baseball theory about what is a forced play or not and whether a runner has to run or not… that is always the most challenging piece but it seems like the kids got a fair grasp on it right of the bat (pun intended). Next week, baseball time so bring in your baseball mits les amis. We don’t have enough here to go around. We have everything else though but your are welcome to bring your own sluggers or own sunflower spits :)
We are going to the play Annie Jr. tomorrow at the Esplanade. Most of the kids are excited as they will watch some of their friends perform. I am exmyself too as I am always happy to meet older students of mine that have grown and matured. I just hope they are not taller than me already…
Ton prof, singing out!
P.s. We had a rock out 3-minute session today. It had been a while, I agree les enfants! We crushed it up with Three Days Grace and taking the high road. Click here and get a quick session in… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W05kwPR_qyc
