Autonomous & resourceful, I know that is two words... but that is how good the kids are becoming. We can see Kristopher here being a good sports and stepping out of the 'zone' to 'smile' for the today's blog picture. If the kids do not know a word, they look it up in their desk dictionnary. If they don't find it, they go in the mother of all bilingual dictionnaries at the back of the class. Ultimatly, if they cannot find it they come ask their teacher. Way to be les amis! We worked hard today on our French stories part II. Kris has already started is good copy (solide champion!) Some kids finished their 'brouillon' and then peer edited their stories. Most have already gotten some drawing to illustrates new characters, scenes etc. The class is already looking forward to hearing the second installments.
We had a couple celebrations today too. Ash Wednesday was first thing in the afternoon and then we got introduced to Carnaval with some videos about the biggest winter Carnaval on earth. Friday les amis, make sure you have your beards grown, plad shirts and jeans. M. Beaulieu has been growing his beard for over five weeks for that special day...
Father Mathieu was also generous of his time and spent a full period in our classroom answering questions from where he is from to how many years Cardinal Van Thuan was imprisoned in Vietnam... pretty diverse. Kids get going and even father had a chuckle or two about the types of questions. Father Mathieu even stayed for a couple quick games of M. Beaulieu dit. Father Mathieu actually speaks some French so he did pretty good.
St-Valentin tomorrow les amis, wear some read and lots of hearts. Guys, if you ever wanted to wear some pink, tomorrow would be the day! As for me, I will feature my new St-Valentin tie. I have been waiting a long time to wear it.
Ciao for now,
