Oh my goodenessssssssss, talk about coldenesssssss!!! I was talking to my Mexican friend Alfredo via Skype last night. I lived in Veracruz for half a year and we became good friends. He says he would like to learn how to snowboard one day. I always told him that mi casa es su casa but he will never come. Why you may ask... because of days like this. He literally thinks he will die if he were there while the weather got this cold. Last night, when I told him that it'd be about -40 with the wind chill he could not believe the schools would still be open. He knows a bit of English so whenever they get my microphone going I will introduce him to the classroom. Kids are also looking forward to meet my friend Pter from Czech Republic. He is a funny dude and he is learning English very well. It really rings true with the kids to see second language learners like them. The advantage your kids have is that you started very young parents and that is one of the best gifts you can give to your progeny. Maybe not now so much, but eventually they will see the full value of what you are doing for them and will be forever grateful.
We had our featured students assembly for this month today. Jade et Karli got the nod from their peers and presented each other. They used their best British accent for their short speeches which is always very endearing. Friday is dress down or no tie day for M. Beaulieu so that is why I am not wearing one today. Plus, it would be hard to bust out all those dance moves at lunch with a tie on would you not agree les enfants?
Did we ever have a good Health class today!?! We watched the first installment of Dr. Sears 9 simple steps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVpHApr3C-4 I recommend every parent/family to take the time and watch it with your children. It is very enlightening and gives a good understanding especially for the kids of how important nutrition can be. As usual, kids had a bazillions questions and it always takes us on tangents. Then, we have to get back to our moutons (ask your kids about this French expression). Questions were brought us to topics such as today's milk, meat, pop and leather among other things... Again, I have to say parents that your kids are the smartest/most inquisitive I have had the pleasure to teach and get to know. It obviously comes from home so more power to you for empowering your kids with curiosity, an inquisitive mind and open mindedness. On this note, make yourselves a fantastic weekend.
I am looking forward to seeing you next Monday my young Padawans!
